Educational Background
Mr. Lu hold B.A. and M.A. degrees in Economics from Peking University, an M.A. in Development Economics from Australian National University, and a Ph.D. in Economics from the PBC School of Finance.
Work Experience
Mr. Lu Lei is Deputy Governor of the People's Bank of China. Previously, he served as Deputy Administrator of the State Administration of Foreign Exchange (SAFE) of PRC, a role he assumed in June 2017.

Prior to his current position, Mr. Lu served as Director-General of the Financial Stability Bureau and the Research Bureau at the People's Bank of China (PBC). Before that, he was President of Guangdong University of Finance and Chief of its China Financial Transformation and Development Research Center. Mr. Lu also worked at China Merchants Bank as Assistant General Manager of the Research Department and a senior fellow, and taught at Sun Yat-Sun University.

Mr. Liu started his career at the PBC and worked at the Department of Economics and Finance of the Policy Research Office and the Department of International Finance at the Research Bureau. He also did research on macroeconomic policy coordination at the Department of Treasury of Australia.
