Ms Li holds a PhD degree in Economics and a Master’s degree in Finance from the PBC Graduate School of Finance at Tsinghua University and a Master’s degree in Economics from the Australian National University.
Work Experience
Li Wenhong is Director-General of the Large Bank Supervision Department at National Financial Regulatory Administration. She was Director-General of the Shenzhen Bureau of the China Banking and Insurance Regulatory Commission (CBIRC) from 2019 to 2023. She is co-chair of the Working Group on Liquidity (WGL) and a member of the Macro-prudential Supervision Group (MPG) of the Basel Committee, and was a member of the Basel Macro-Variables Task Force (MVTF) during 2009–2010 and the Basel Core Principles Review Group (CPG) during 2001–2012.

During 2016 - 2019, Ms. Li served as Director-General of the Banking Innovation Supervision Department of at CBIRC; during May 2009 -May 2015, she was Deputy Director-General of the Policy Research Bureau and during April 2003 - May 2009, she was a Deputy Director and Director at the Law and Regulation department. She was seconded to the Financial Stability Institute of the Bank for International Settlement (BIS) and the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision (BCBS) in 2005, and seconded to the Bank of China as the Deputy General Manager of the Risk Management Department during 2006‐2007. Before joining the CBIRC, Madame Li worked at the People’s Bank of China from 1995 to 2003.
