REPORTS
REPORTS
This is a report series released on the Bund Summit organized on an annual basis by CF40 together with partner institutions.
Since 2009, CF40 has been publishing quarterly reports on China’s macroeconomic policies, addressing the “what”, “why” and “then what” about the Chinese economy. It focuses on policy developments that can lead to sustainable economic development. In 2016, CF40 launched the China Macro Doctor (CMD) Series led by CF40 Nonresident Senior Fellow Zhang Bin, which includes a monthly diagnosis of China’s macroeconomic data, a quarterly macroeconomic policy report, and research reports on key economic issues.
In 2017, CF40 initiated the Jingshan Report Series, an annual research program on the most relevant and critical financial issues in China. Authored by leading experts from the government, financial industry and academia, the report aims to formulate concrete policy proposals for China’ financial reform and opening based on in-depth and up-to-date analysis. From 2017 to 2019, the program was led by Prof. Huang Yiping, Chairman of CF40 Academic Committee. The themes of the three years’ reports are “Proactively and Steadily Advancing China’s Financial Opening”, “Strengthening Market Mechanisms to Promote a Modern Financial System in China” and “Supporting High-Quality Economic Development with Financial Innovation” respectively. Since their release, the reports have received high acclaim from policymakers, financial practitioners and academics worldwide. Beginning in 2020, the project will be led by CF40 Nonresident Senior Fellow Xiao Gang. The 2020 Jingshan Report is themed “Economic and Financial Development and Policy Measures under the 14th Five-Year Plan”.
In May 2017, CF40 and PIIE launched their first joint report at the 6th CF40-PIIE Economists Symposium in Beijing. Researchers from the two institutes conducted in-depth analysis on exchange rate policy and bilateral trade and investment, assessed the implications of policy changes proposed by the new US administration, and proposed practical ways for cooperation for win-win outcomes. On Jun 8, 2017, the English version of the report was released in Washington DC. In May 2018, the two insitutions released the second joint report titled “A Constructive Approach to China-US Trade Tensions” at the 7th China-US Economists’ Symposium in Beijing. It consisted of 16 papers on China-US Trade Tensions, Economic Reform and Growth, and Financial Reform and Regulation, and provided concrete policy suggestions for the two countries’ economic and trade development. The English version of the Report was released on Jun 11, 2018 in Washington, DC.
The report is a research project led by CF40 Senior Fellow Xiao Gang, covering a series of topics including China’s practice of intelligent finance, technology advancement and bottleneck, data protection, risks and challenges and regulatory responses. The report also provides policy recommendations for future development of intelligent finance.
